Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Montessori and traditional education?

Montessori emphasizes learning through all five senses. Children in Montessori classes learn at their own individual pace and according to their own choice of activities. Learning is an exciting process of discovery, leading to concentration, motivation, self-discipline, and a love of learning.

Where are you located?

Our head office is located in Ontario, Canada however we have teachers from all over the world including Canada, the United States of America, and the United Kingdom.

When do you have classes?

Since our teachers are from all over the world, we offer classes at many different times. Please feel free to reach out with any questions/requests regarding class times.

Do you offer elective/specialist-type classes?

Yes, World Montessori offers a variety of elective/specialist classes. Our most popular elective classes are our baking classes.

What age do you need to be to attend?

We offer classes for children 3-16 years of age.

How many students are in each class?

The amount of students in class depends on the subject and age group. Class sizes are kept small to ensure that every child gets the individual attention that they require. There is a maximum size of 6 -13 students per class. However, most classes have less than 5 students.

Are your Montessori classes taught by Montessori trained teachers?

Yes, all of our Montessori classes are taught by fully accredited MACTE Montessori teachers.

What if I don't have Montessori materials at home?

That isn't a problem at all! We provide printable materials for any classes that require something specific (most of our math classes). These printable materials work, but the real materials definitely work better. A lot of families that are new to Montessori will try out the first class with the printable materials and then decide to purchase the real materials.

Do you operate year-round?

We run 12 months of the year. To work with students' school schedules, we try our best to offer extra classes during common North American school breaks: The last 2 weeks in December and 1st week in January for Winter/Christmas Break, March and April for Spring Break, and June-August for Summer Break.

Do you offer a full curriculum program?

We currently offer full curriculum classes for children ages 3-7. These classes are 30-minute classes that take place 3-4 days a week. Each day focuses on a different subject, such as reading, writing, math and culture.

My child doesn't have any Montessori experience and we aren't a 'Montessori Family'. Can my child still take your classes?

Definitely! We would love to introduce your family to all of the wonders of Montessori learning. Please reach out if you have any questions about World Montessori Academy's classes or Montessori in general.

I know nothing about Montessori. Are you able to teach me how to implement Montessori in my home?

Of course! Whether you're a stay at home parent, a home school parent, or a parent that just wants to learn more about how they can support their child's learning and development through Montessori, we can definitely work with you and help you learn and implement the Montessori philosophy in your home.
